Washing Newborn Baby Clothes: A Guide

Having a baby indicates the beginning of a new chapter in your life, however, it also adds a lot of workload to your already busy schedule. Since, your baby is at a delicate stage, you need to take special care of its well-being which means paying extra attention to every little chore that you need to be doing for the little munchkin.

One of the biggest problems the new mom faces is keeping the baby's clothes clean, they will drool, drop food, do so many other things that their clothes will invariably get dirty and moms always have to be ready to wash a pile. But, baby clothing items need to be washed with special care and attention, here's a guideline that might help.

  • The first rule that you should follow, is that you should always wash the baby clothes right after you buy them. It is for better hygiene and safety of you baby.

  • Always follow the label that comes with the clothing, there will be directions regarding the proper way to wash clothes, what kind of detergent to use, whether to hand wash the cloth or, machine wash would do. Following these directions would help you keep the clothing items in good condition for a long time. The same rule should be followed while washing reusable cloth diapers for babies.

  • Do not use the regular detergent, for your baby you must use a hypoallergenic detergent. The use of such a detergent would ensure that your baby's cloths, muslin baby bath towels, and other items that come with the contact with your baby's skin are soft and chemical-free.

  • Be careful about the water temperature, since baby clothes are usually very soft you should take care while putting these into the water. Follow the label again, and if there is no label then use lukewarm water.

  • If the items you are cleaning has some stains or, dirt on those then you should pre-soak such items first. Such as when you want to clean the bandana baby bibs, you must get the food stains out of the bib first by pre-soaking the bib in the water and get the stain out. Only then should you proceed with the cleaning procedure.

Keep the pointers discussed here in mind next time you wash your baby clothing.
